سورة الـبلد

Surah Al-Balad

Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem

لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ ﴿١﴾
وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ ﴿٢﴾
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ ﴿٣﴾
90/Al-Balad-3: Va vealidin va mea valad(valada).
And by the father and the newborn. (3)
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ ﴿٤﴾
90/Al-Balad-4: Lakaad haalaaknal inseana fee kabad(kabadin).
Certainly We have created human in distress. (4)
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ ﴿٥﴾
90/Al-Balad-5: A yaahsabu an lan yaakdiraa aalayhi ahaad(ahaadun).
Does he (the human) think that no one has power over him? (5)
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا ﴿٦﴾
90/Al-Balad-6: Yakoolu ahlaktu mealan lubadea(lubadan).
He says: “I have consumed abundant wealth”. (6)
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿٧﴾
90/Al-Balad-7: A yaahsabu an lam yaraahoo ahaad(ahaadun).
Does he think that no one sees him? (7)
أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ ﴿٨﴾
90/Al-Balad-8: A lam nac’aal lahu aaynayn(aaynayni).
Have We not given him a pair of eyes? (8)
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ﴿٩﴾
وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ ﴿١٠﴾
90/Al-Balad-10: Va hadayneahun nacdayn(nacdayni).
And We deliver him to ways (the Way of Hidayet and the way of Misguidance). (10)
فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ ﴿١١﴾
90/Al-Balad-11: Fa laaktahaamal aakaabata.
But he has not gone through Aqaba (the steep hill). (11)
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ ﴿١٢﴾
90/Al-Balad-12: Va mea adreaka mal aakaabah(aakaabatu).
And what is it that makes you comprehend what Aqaba (the steep hill) is? (12)
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ ﴿١٣﴾
90/Al-Balad-13: Fakku rakaabatin.
(Going through the steep hill) is freeing the slave. (13)
أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ ﴿١٤﴾
90/Al-Balad-14: Av ıt’eamun fee yavmin zee masgaabah(masgaabatin).
Or feeding him in a day when he is hungry and exhausted. (14)
يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ﴿١٥﴾
90/Al-Balad-15: Yateeman zea maakraabah(maakraabatin).
An orphan who has a relationship (next to kin). (15)
أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ ﴿١٦﴾
90/Al-Balad-16: Av miskeenan zea matraabah(matraabatin).
Or (feeding) the needy that is extremely poor. (16)
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ ﴿١٧﴾
90/Al-Balad-17: Summa keana minallazeena eamanoo va taveasaav bis saabri va taveasaav bil marhaama(marhaamati).
Then to be one of those who is Amenu (who wish to reach Allah before death), and recommends patience and recommends mercy (is to go through the steep hill). (17)
أُوْلَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ ﴿١٨﴾
90/Al-Balad-18: Uleaika aasheabul maymanah(maymanati).
These are the Ashab-ı Meymene (the ones whose records of deeds (life films) are given from their right hand side). (18)
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ ﴿١٩﴾
90/Al-Balad-19: Vallazeena kafaroo bi eayeatinea hum aasheabul mash’amah(mash’amati).
And those who deny Our Verses, they are Ashab-ı Mesheme (the ones whose records of deeds (life films) are given from their left hand side). (19)
عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ﴿٢٠﴾
