Surah Fussilat

Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem

وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَاهُمْ فَاسْتَحَبُّوا الْعَمَى عَلَى الْهُدَى فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَاعِقَةُ الْعَذَابِ الْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ ﴿١٧﴾
41/Fussilat-17: Va ammea samoodu fa hadayneahum fastahaabbool aamea aalal hudea fa ahaazathum seaıkaatul aazeabil hooni bimea keanoo yaksiboon(yaksiboona).

And as to (people of) Thamûd, We have then delivered them to Hidayet. Yet, they preferred blindness towards Hidayet. Therefore a thunderbolt of an abasing torment seized them because of what they used to earn.

And as for the tribe of the Thamud We guided them but they preferred blindness to the guidance, wherefore the bolt of the torment of abjection laid hold of them because of that which they had been earning.

And as for Thamud, We showed and made clear to them the Path of Truth (Islamic Monotheism) through Our Messenger, (i.e. showed them the way of success), but they preferred blindness to guidance, so the Sa'iqah (a destructive awful cry, torment, hit, a thunderbolt) of disgracing torment seized them, because of what they used to earn.

So We sent on them a curious wind in unlucky days that We might make them taste the chastisement of abasement in this world’s life. And the chastisement of the Hereafter is truly more abasing, and they will not be helped.
