Surah Al-Fath

Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem

48/Al-Fath-10: Innallazeena yubeayioonaka innamea yubeayioonaalleah(yubeayioonaalleaha), yadulleahi favkaa aydeehim, fa man nakasa fa innamea yankusu aalea nafsihee, va man avfea bi mea eahada aalayhulleaha fa sa yu’teehi acran aazeemea(aazeeman).

Imam Iskender Ali Mihr

Surely those who swear allegiance to you do but swear allegiance to Allah. The Hand of Allah is on top of their hands (since Allah has manifested Himself in your body, He also has manifested Himself in your hand). Therefore whoever breaks (his covenant), he breaks it against his own soul (as he does not fulfill his vow, covenant, he causes his degrees to fall to negative), and whoever is faithful to his covenants with Allah (fulfills his oath, vow and covenant) then the Mighty Reward will be granted to him (the joy of this world and also heaven will be given).

Abdul Majid Daryabadi

Verily those who swear fealty Unto thee, only swear fealty Unto Allah: the hand of Allah is over their hands. So whosoever breaketh his oath, breaketh it only to his soul´s hurt; and whosoever fulfilleth that which he hath convenanted with Allah, him anon He shall give a mighty hire.

Ali Quli Qarai

Indeed those who swear allegiance to you, swear allegiance only to Allah: the hand of Allah is above their hands. Then whosoever breaks his oath, breaks it only to his own detriment, and whoever fulfills the covenant he has made with Allah, He will give him a great reward.

Ali Unal

Those who swear allegiance to you (O Messenger), swear allegiance to God only. God’s "Hand" is over their hands. Whoever then breaks his oath, breaks his oath only to his own harm; and whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with God, He will grant him a tremendous reward.

Ahmed Ali

Those who swear allegiance to you indeed swear allegiance to God; and God´s protection is over them. Then whosoever breaks the promise breaks it to his own loss; but whosoever fulfills the promise made to God will receive a great reward from Him.

Ahmed Raza Khan

Those who swear allegiance to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do indeed in fact swear allegiance to Allah; Allah's Hand* of Power is above their hands; so whoever breaches his oath, has breached his own greater promise; and whoever fulfils the covenant he has with Allah – so very soon Allah will bestow upon him a great reward. (Used as a metaphor.)

Amatul Rahman Omar

(Prophet!) Those who swear allegiance to you as a matter of fact swear allegiance to Allâh. Allâh´s (helpful and benign) hand is above their hands. So he who breaks (his oath of allegiance) breaks (it) to his own loss. And as for the person who fulfills the great covenant he made with Allâh (- at Bai`t al-Ridzwân, by Hudaibiyah), He will surely give such a person a great reward.

Arthur John Arberry

Those who swear fealty to thee swear fealty in truth to God; God's hand is over their hands. Then whosoever breaks his oath breaks it but to his own hurt; and whoso fulfils his covenant made with God, God will give him a mighty wage.

Hamid Aziz

Surely those who swear allegiance unto you (O Muhammad) do but swear allegiance to Allah; the hand of Allah is above their hands. Therefore, whoever breaks his faith, he breaks it only to the injury of his own soul, and whoever fulfils what he has covenanted with Allah, He will grant him a mighty reward.

Hilali & Khan

Verily, those who give Bai'a (pledge) to you (O Muhammad SAW) they are giving Bai'a (pledge) to Allah. The Hand of Allah is over their hands. Then whosoever breaks his pledge, breaks only to his own harm, and whosoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah, He will bestow on him a great reward.

Maulana Muhammad Ali

That you may believe in Allah and His Messenger and may aid him and revere him. And (that) you may declare His glory, morning and evening.

Mohammed Habib Shakir

Surely those who swear allegiance to you do but swear allegiance to Allah; the hand of Allah is above their hands. Therefore whoever breaks (his faith), he breaks it only to the injury of his own soul, and whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah, He will grant him a mighty reward.

Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall

Lo! those who swear allegiance unto thee (Muhammad), swear allegiance only unto Allah. The Hand of Allah is above their hands. So whosoever breaketh his oath, breaketh it only to his soul´s hurt; while whosoever keepeth his covenant with Allah, on him will He bestow immense reward.

Muhammad Sarwar

Those who pledge obedience to you are, in fact, pledging obedience to God. The hands of God are above their hands. As for those who disregard their pledge, they do so only against their own souls. Those who fulfill their promise to God will receive a great reward.

Qaribullah & Darwish

Those who swear allegiance to you swear allegiance to Allah. The Hand of Allah is above their hands. He who breaks his oath breaks it against his self, but for he that keeps his covenant made with Allah, Allah shall give him a mighty wage.

Saheeh International

Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muhammad] - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So he who breaks his word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has promised Allah - He will give him a great reward.

Shah Faridul Haque

Those who swear allegiance to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him), do indeed in fact swear allegiance to Allah; Allah’s Hand* of Power is above their hands; so whoever breaches his oath, has breached his own greater promise; and whoever fulfils the covenant he has with Allah - so very soon Allah will bestow upon him a great reward. (Used as a metaphor to mean Allah’s power).

Talal Itani

Those who pledge allegiance to you are pledging allegiance to God. The hand of God is over their hands. Whoever breaks his pledge breaks it to his own loss. And whoever fulfills his covenant with God, He will grant him a great reward.

Wahiduddin Khan

Behold, all who pledge their allegiance to you indeed pledge their allegiance to God: the hand of God is over their hands. Hence, he who breaks his oath, breaks it only to his own loss. Whereas he who remains true to what he has pledged to God, shall have a great reward bestowed upon him by God.

Yusuf Ali

Verily those who plight their fealty to thee do no less than plight their fealty to Allah: the Hand of Allah is over their hands: then any one who violates his oath, does so to the harm of his own soul, and any one who fulfils what he has covenanted with Allah,- Allah will soon grant him a great Reward.
