Surah Al-Ma'idah
Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem
Imam Iskender Ali Mihr
And if only the People of the Book had believed (had wished to reach Allah before death) and had become the pious (the owners of Takwa), We would certainly have covered their sins and We would certainly have made them enter Naîm Heaven.
Abdul Majid Daryabadi
And had the people of the Book believed and feared, We would surely have expiated from them their misdeeds and would surely have made them enter the Garden of Delight.
Ali Quli Qarai
Had the People of the Book believed and been Godwary, We would surely have absolved them of their misdeeds and admitted them into gardens of bliss.
Ali Unal
If only the People of the Book would believe (in the Prophet Muhammad and what is revealed to him), and keep from disobedience to God in piety so as to deserve His protection, We would certainly blot out from them their (previous) evil deeds and admit them for sure into Gardens of bounty and blessings.
Ahmed Ali
If the people of the Book had believed and feared, We would surely have absolved them of their sins, and admitted them to gardens of delight.
Ahmed Raza Khan
If the People given the Book(s) had accepted faith and been pious, We would have certainly redeemed them of their sins and would have certainly taken them into serene Gardens.
Amatul Rahman Omar
And if the people of the Scripture had only believed and guarded against evil, We would surely have absolved them of their sins and We would surely make them enter Gardens of bliss.
Arthur John Arberry
But had the People of the Book believed and been godfearing, We would have acquitted them of their evil deeds, and admitted them to Gardens of Bliss.
Hamid Aziz
And if they had been steadfast in the Torah and the Gospel, and what has been sent down to them from their Lord, they would surely have nourishment from above them and below them. Amongst them are a people who are moderate, but many of them are of evil conduct.
Hilali & Khan
And if only the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) had believed (in Muhammad SAW) and warded off evil (sin, ascribing partners to Allah) and had become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2) We would indeed have blotted out their sins and admitted them to Gardens of pleasure (in Paradise).
Maulana Muhammad Ali
And the Jews say: The hand of Allah is tied up. Their own hands are shackled and they are cursed for what they say. Nay, both his hands are spread out. He disburses as He pleases. And that which has been revealed to thee from thy Lord will certainly make many of them increase in inordinacy and disbelief. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindle fire for war Allah puts it out, and they strive to make mischief in the land. And Allah loves not the mischief-makers.
Mohammed Habib Shakir
And if the followers of the Book had believed and guarded (against evil) We would certainly have covered their evil deeds and We would certainly have made them enter gardens of bliss
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall
If only the People of the Scripture would believe and ward off (evil), surely We should remit their sins from them and surely We should bring them into Gardens of Delight.
Muhammad Sarwar
Had the People of the Book accepted the faith and observed piety, certainly, We would have redeemed their bad deeds and admitted them into a blissful Paradise.
Qaribullah & Darwish
If the People of the Book had believed and kept from evil, We would pardon them their sins and admit them to the Gardens of Delight.
Saheeh International
And if only the People of the Scripture had believed and feared Allah, We would have removed from them their misdeeds and admitted them to Gardens of Pleasure.
Shah Faridul Haque
If the People given the Book(s) had accepted faith and been pious, We would have certainly redeemed them of their sins and would have certainly taken them into serene Gardens.
Talal Itani
Had the People of the Scriputure believed and been righteous, We would have remitted their sins, and admitted them into the Gardens of Bliss.
Wahiduddin Khan
If only the People of the Book would believe and be mindful of God, We would surely pardon their sins and We would surely admit them into the Gardens of Bliss.

If only the People of the Book had believed and been righteous, We should indeed have blotted out their iniquities and admitted them to gardens of bliss.
