Surah Al-Hadid

Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem

لِئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِّن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَاء وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿٢٩﴾
57/Al-Hadid-29: Li allea yaa’lama ahlul kiteabi allea yaakdiroona aalea shay’in min faadlilleahi va annal faadla bi yadilleahi yoo’teehi man yasheau, vaalleahu zool faadlil aazeem(aazeemi).

Imam Iskender Ali Mihr

It is because the People of the Book did not know that they had no power over the Virtue of Allah, and that His Grace is entirely in His Power, and He gives it to whom He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Mighty Virtue.

Abdul Majid Daryabadi

This He will award that the people of the Book may know that they control naught of the grace of Allah, and that the grace is in Allah´s hand; He vouchsafeth it Unto whomsoever He wilt, And Allah is Owner of mighty grace.

so that the People of the Book may know that they do not control Allah grace in any wise and that in Allah’s hand is all grace, which He grants to whomever He wishes and Allah is dispenser of a mighty grace.

(This is told you so) that the people of the Book should know that they cannot determine or restrict anything of God’s grace, (and neither they nor Muslim believers will be able to attain anything of it unless they believe in Muhammad together with all the previous Prophets), and that all grace is in God’s Hand, He grants it to whom He wills. [This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that they are not able [to obtain] anything from the bounty of Allah and that [all] bounty is in the hand of Allah; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty.
