Surah An-Nur
Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem
﴿١﴾
24/An-Nur-1: Sooraatun anzalneahea va faaraadneahea va anzalnea feehea eayeatin bayyineatin laaallakum tazakkaroon(tazakkaroona).
(This is) a chapter (Sûrah) which We have sent down and made obligatory (some verses of it). And We sent down explained Verses in it with Clear proofs, that perhaps you may deliberate. (1)
﴿٢﴾
24/An-Nur-2: Az zeaniyatu vaz zeanee faclidoo kulla veahıdin min humea miata caldatin va lea ta’huzkum bi himea raa’fatun fee deenilleahi in kuntum tu’minoona billeahi val yavmil eahır(eahırı), val yashhad aazeabahumea teaifatun minal mu’mineen(mu’mineena).
The adulteress and the adulterer, flog each of them a hundred stripes (that affects the skin only) and let not pity for them detain you concerning (the application of) Allah’s Religion, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day, and let a party of the believers witness their torment. (2)
﴿٣﴾
24/An-Nur-3: Az zeanee lea yankihu illea zeaniyatan av mushrikatan vaz zeaniyatu lea yankihuhea illea zeanin av mushrik(mushrikun), va hurrima zealika aalal mu’mineen(mu’mineena).
The adulterer cannot marry other than an adulteress or an idolatress and as for the adulteress; none can marry her except an adulterer or an idolater. All that is forbidden to the believers. (3)
﴿٤﴾
24/An-Nur-4: Vallazeena yarmoonal muhsaaneati summa lam ya’too bi arbaaati shuhadeaa faclidoohum sameaneena caldatan va lea taakbaloo lahum shaheadatan abadea(abadan), va uleaika humul feasikoon(feasikoona).
And for those who accuse chaste women, then cannot bring four witnesses, flog them with eighty stripes (that affects the skin only) and never accept their witnessing, and these it is that are the transgressors (who are not in the Way of Allah or have gone out of it). (4)
﴿٥﴾
24/An-Nur-5: Illallazeena teaboo min baa’di zealika va aaslahoo, fa innaalleaha gaafoorun raaheem(raaheemun).
Except those who repent after this and improve. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (the One who manifests with His Mercy attribute). (5)
﴿٦﴾
24/An-Nur-6: Vallazeena yarmoona azveacahum va lam yakun lahum shuhadeau illea anfusuhum fa shaheadatu ahaadihim arbaoo shaheadeatin billeahi innahoo la minas seadıkeen(seadıkeena).
And those who accuse their wives of adultery, if they have no witnesses but themselves, then the testimony of each of them shall be a testimony sworn by Allah four times repeated, that he is indeed of the truthful ones (of those who speak the truth). (6)
﴿٧﴾
24/An-Nur-7: Val heamisatu anna laa’nataalleahi aalayhi in keana minal keazibeen(keazibeena).
And the fifth (testimony) is that Allah’s Curse be upon him if he is one of the liars. (7)
﴿٨﴾
24/An-Nur-8: Va yadraaoo aanhal aazeaba an tashhada arbaaa shaheadeatin billeahi innahu la minal keazibeen(keazibeena).
And it shall avert the torment (punishment) from her if she bears witness four times by Allah, that he (her husband) is most surely one of the liars. (8)
﴿٩﴾
24/An-Nur-9: Val heamisata anna gaadaabaalleahi aalayhea in keana minas seadikeen(seadikeena).
And the fifth (testimony) that the Wrath of Allah be upon her if he is one of the truthful (if he has spoken the truth). (9)
24/An-Nur-10: Va lav lea faadlulleahi aalaykum va raahmatuhu va annalleaha tavveabun haakeem(haakeemun).
And if it had not been for the Virtue of Allah upon you and His Mercy (you would have under-gone a punishment)! And that Allah is Oft- Forgiving (the One Who accepts repentance), the All-Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment). (10)
24/An-Nur-11: Innallazeena ceaoo bil ifki usbatun minkum, lea taahsaboohu sharran lakum, bal huva haayrun lakum, li kullimriin minhum maktasaba minal ism(ismi), vallazee tavallea kibrahu minhum lahu aazeabun aazeem(aazeemun).
Surely those who brought forth the slander (against Âishah) are a party from among you. Do not regard it an evil for you; nay, it is good for you. For each of them there is what he has earned of the sin (punishment); and as for him among them who had managed (concocted and spread) to the greater part of it, for him there is a great torment. (11)
24/An-Nur-12: Lav lea iz sami’tumoohu zaannal mu’minoona val mu’mineatu bi anfusihim haayraan va kealoo heazea ifkun mubeen(mubeenun).
If only the believing men and the believing women, when they heard of it (of the slander), had thought good in their own minds, and said: “This is a manifest slander”. (12)
24/An-Nur-13: Lav lea ceaoo aalayhi bi arbaaati shuhadea(shuhadeaa), fa iz lam ya’too bish shuhadeai fa uleaika indalleahi humul keaziboon(keaziboona).
If only they had brought four witnesses of it. Since they failed to bring the witnesses, they verily are the liars within the Sight of Allah. (13)
And had it not been for the Virtue of Allah unto you and His Mercy in this world and in the Hereafter, a great torment would have touched you because of that which you entered into (the slander, backbiting). (14)
24/An-Nur-15: Iz taleakkaavnahu bi alsinatikum va takooloona bi afveahikum mea laysa lakum bihee ilmun va taahsaboonahu hayyinan va huva indaalleahi aazeem(aazeemun).
You were telling (asking) it (slander) with your tongues (and passed it around) and uttered with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge, and you deemed it an unimportant matter, while with Allah it was very great (crime). (15)
24/An-Nur-16: Va lav lea iz sami’tumoohu kultum mea yakoonu lanea an natakallama bi heazea subheanaka heazea buhteanun aazeem(aazeemun).
Should you not have said, when you heard of it, “it does not beseem us that we should talk of it; glory be to You! This is a great calumny”? (16)
24/An-Nur-17: Yaızukumulleahu an taoodoo li mislihee abadan in kuntum mu’mineen(mu’mineena).
Allah admonishes (commands) you that you should not return to the like of it ever again if you are believers. (17)
24/An-Nur-18: Va yubayyinulleahu lakumul eayeat(eayeati), vaalleahu aaleemun haakeem(haakeemun).
And Allah makes clear to you His Verses; and Allah is All-Knowing, All- Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment). (18)
24/An-Nur-19: Innallazeena yuhıbboona an tasheeaal feahıshatu feellazeena eamanoo lahum aazeabun aleemun feed dunyea val eahıraah(eahıraati), vaalleahu yaa’lamu va antum lea taa’lamoon(taa’lamoona).
As for those who love that indecency (adultery, shameful events, slander, evil) should spread among those who believe, for them there is a painful torment in this world and the Hereafter; and Allah knows, while you do not know. (19)
24/An-Nur-20: Va lav lea faadlulleahi aalaykum va raahmatuhu va annaalleaha raaoofun raaheem(raaheemun).
And if it had not been for the Virtue of Allah on you and His Mercy (He would have tormented you) and surely Allah is full of Kindness, Most Merciful. (20)
24/An-Nur-21: Yea ayyuheallazeena eamanoo lea tattabioo hutuveatish shaytean(shayteani), va man yattabi’ hutuveatish shayteani fa innahu ya’muru bil faahsheai val munkar(munkari) va lav lea faadlulleahi aalaykum va raahmatuhu mea zakea minkum min ahaadin abadan va leakinnaalleaha yuzakkee man yasheau, vaalleahu samee’un aaleem(aaleemun).
O you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before death), do not follow the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan)! And whosoever follows the footsteps of Satan, then surely he commands Al-Fahshâ (indecency, all kinds of evil) and Al-Munkar (the denial and all that Allah has forbidden). And if it had not been for the Virtue and Mercy of Allah unto you (if these had not be placed into the hearts of your souls), none of you could have ever cleansed his soul, but Allah cleanses the souls of whom He wills and Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (21)
24/An-Nur-22: Va lea ya’tali ulul faadlı minkum vas saaati an yu’too ulil kurbea val maseakeena val muheacireena fee sabeelilleah(sabeelilleahi), val yaa’foo val yaasfahoo, a lea tuhıbboona an yaagfiraalleahu lakum, vaalleahu gaafoorun raaheem(raaheemun).
And let not those of you (amongst you) who possess Virtue and Wealth swear against giving to the near of kin and to the needy and to the emigrants in the Way of Allah; let them pardon and be indulgent. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (22)
24/An-Nur-23: Innallazeena yarmoonal muhsaaneatil geafileatil mu’mineati luınoo fid dunyea val eahıraati va lahum aazeabun aazeem(aazeemun).
Those who slander chaste and believing women (without their knowledge), are cursed in the world and the Hereafter. And for them there is a great torment. (23)
24/An-Nur-24: Yavma tashhadu aalayhim alsinatuhum va aydeehim va arculuhum bimea keanoo yaa’maloon(yaa’maloona).
On that Day their tongues, their hands and their feet (their life films) will bear witness against them as to what they used to do. (24)
24/An-Nur-25: Yavma izin yuvaffeehimulleahu deenahumul haakkaa va yaa’lamoona annaalleaha huval haakkul mubeen(mubeenu).
On the Day of Permission Allah will pay for their religion in full their just reward (the equivalent of the negative and positive degrees that they have earned) and they shall know that Allah is the Manifest Truth (who expounds the truth, fulfils it). (25)
24/An-Nur-26: Al haabeeseatu lil haabeeseena val haabeesoona lil haabeeseat(haabeeseati), vat taayyibeatu lit taayyibeena vat taayyiboona lit taayyibeat(taayyibeati), uleaika mubarraaoona mimmea yakooloon(yakooloona), lahum maagfiratun va rızkun kareem(kareemun).
Vile women are for the vile men, and the vile men are for the vile women. The good and clean women are for the good and clean men. The good and clean men are for the good and clean women. These are the ones who are free from what they say (against them). For them is Forgiveness (the changing of the evil deeds into merits) and a generous sustenance (offered by Allah). (26)
24/An-Nur-27: Yea ayyuheallazeena eamanoo lea tadhuloo buyootan gaayraa buyootikum haattea tasta’nisoo va tusallimoo aalea ahlihea, zealikum haayrun lakum laaallakum tazakkaroon(tazakkaroona).
O you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before death)! Do not enter houses other than your own houses, until you ask for permission, and salute those in them. This is better for you, that you may deliberate (remember). (27)
24/An-Nur-28: Fa in lam tacidoo feehea ahaadan fa lea tadhuloohea haattea yu’zana lakum va in keela lakumurcioo farcioo huva azkea lakum, vaalleahu bimea taa’maloona aaleem(aaleemun).
And if you do not find any one therein, then do not enter them until permission is given to you. And if you are asked to go back, then go back; this is purer (appropriate) for you; and Allah is All-Knowing of what you do. (28)
24/An-Nur-29: Laysa aalaykum cuneahun an tadhuloo buyootan gaayra maskoonatin feehea mateaun lakum, vaalleahu yaa’lamu mea tubdoona va mea taktumoon(taktumoona).
There is no sin on you that you enter uninhabited houses wherein is a benefit with your presence. And Allah knows what you do openly and what you hide. (29)
24/An-Nur-30: Kul lil mu’mineena yaaguddoo min absearihim va yaahfazoo furoocahum, zealika azkea lahum, innalleaha haabeerun bimea yaasnaoon(yaasnaoona).
Say to the believing men that they cast down their looks (they keep away from prohibited), guard their chastity; that is purer for them. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what they do. (30)
24/An-Nur-31: Va kul lil mu’mineati yaagdudna min absearihinna va yaahfaazna furoocahunna, va lea yubdeena zeenatahunnaillea mea zaaharaa minhea, val yaadribna bi humurihinna aalea cuyoobihinna, va lea yubdeena zeenatahunna illea li buoolatihinna av eabeaihinna av eabeai buoolatihinna av abneaihinna av abneai buoolatihinna av ıhveanihinna av banee ıhveanihinna av banee ahaaveatihinna av niseaihinna av mea malakat aymeanuhunna avit teabieena gaayri uleel irbati minar riceali avit tıflillazeena lam yaazhaaroo aalea aavreatin niseai, va lea yaadribna bi arculihinna li yu’lama mea yuhfeena min zeenatihinn(zeenatihinna), va tooboo ilealleahi cameeaan ayyuhal mu’minoona laaallakum tuflihoon(tuflihoona).
And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks (they keep away from prohibited) and guard their chastity. They should not display their ornaments except what is visible (hands, face and feet), and let them wear (cover) their head-coverings over their collar. And they should not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or women, or those whom their right hands possess (concubines), or the male servants not having need of women, or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women. And let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known. O believers repent to Allah altogether! So that you may have Salvation. (31)

And marry the women and men and the improved ones of your male slaves and your female slaves among you who are single. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His Virtue. And Allah is All-Embracing (His Bestowals, His Blessings are abundant), All-Knowing. (32)

And let those who do not find the means to marry keep themselves chaste, until Allah enriches them of His Virtue. And those who ask for a writing (of emancipation) from among those whom your right hands possess (your male and female slaves) give them the writing (of emancipation) if you know any good in them, and give them of the wealth which Allah has given you. And do not compel your slave girls to prostitution, when they desire to protect their chastity, in order to seek the frail good of this world’s life. Whoever compels them, then surely after their compulsion, Allah is Oft-Forgiving (the One converts the sins into merits), Most Merciful (the One that manifests with His mercy attribute). (33)

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. A likeness of His Light is as a niche (a source that gives off light) in which is a lamp, the lamp is in a glass, the glass is as it were a brightly shining star, lit from an oil of a blessed tree that is neither in the east nor in the west. The oil whereof gives light on its own, even if no fire touches it. (It is) a light upon light. Allah delivers to His Light whom He wills and Allah sets forth parables for mankind. And Allah is All-Knowing of everything. (35)

Do you not see that Allah drives clouds gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap of layers? Then you see He brings forth the rain from their midst. And He sends down from the sky hail mountains. So strikes therewith whom He wills, and averts it from whom He wills. The vivid flash of its lightning almost takes away (blinds) the sight. (43)

Say: “Obey Allah and the Messenger. But if you turn away (do not obey) after that, then only the burden of his duty is on him (to convey)”. And the burden of your duty is on you. If you obey him, you reach Hidayet. No responsibility rests on the Messenger but clear conveying. (54)

Allah has promised to those of you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before death) and do improving deeds (that cleanses the soul) that He will most certainly make them successors (Caliphs) in the earth as He made successors those before them, and that He will most certainly strengthen for them their Religion with which He has been pleased, and that He will most certainly, after their fear, give them security in exchange. They become servants to Me, they do not associate anything with Me. Whoever denies after this, these it is who are the Fâsiqûn (those who are not in the Way of Allah or have gone out of it). (55)

O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Let those whom your right hands possess (your male and female slaves) and those of you who have not attained to puberty ask permission of you during three occasions. Before the prayer of dawn, when you put off your clothes at midday, and after the prayer of the nightfall. These are three occasions of privacy for you (that they need to stay away from you). Neither is it a sin for you nor for them besides these, to move about, attending to each other. Thus does Allah make clear to you the Verses. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (58)

There is no difficulty on the blind, or on the handicapped, or on the sick. Nor there is a difficulty on yourselves that you eat in your houses, or your fathers’ houses or your mothers’ houses, or your brothers’ houses, or your sisters’ houses, or your paternal uncles’ houses, or your paternal aunts’ houses, or your maternal uncles’ houses, or your maternal aunts’ houses, or what you possess the keys of, or at your friends. It is no sin for you that you eat together or separately. When you enter houses, salute one another with a greeting from Allah, blessed and goodly! Thus does Allah make clear to you His Verses that you may use your intellect. (61)

Only the believers who believe in Allah and His Messenger do not go away until they have asked his permission when they are with him on a certain affair. Surely those who ask your permission are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger. So when they ask your permission for some affair of theirs, give permission to whom you will of them and ask forgiveness for them from Allah. Surely Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (the One that manifests with His Mercy attribute). (62)

Do not hold the Messenger’s calling among you to be like your calling one to the other! Allah indeed knew those who left secretly concealing themselves behind others. Therefore let those who go against his order beware lest a trial (Fitnah) should befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them. (63)

Now surely Allah’s is whatever is in the heavens and the earth, are they not? He knew indeed that on which you were (what was in your hearts). And on the Day on which they are returned to Him, He will inform them of what they did; and Allah is All-Knowing of everything. (64)
