Surah As-Sajdah

Bismillaah ir rahmaan ir raheem

وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمْ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْأَدْنَى دُونَ الْعَذَابِ الْأَكْبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ ﴿٢١﴾
32/As-Sajdah-21: Va la nuzeekaannahum minal aazeabil adnea doonal aazeabil akbari laaallahum yarcioon(yarcioona).

Imam Iskender Ali Mihr

And most certainly We will make them taste of the nearer torment before the greater torment. It is hoped that haply they may turn (to Allah by wishing to reach Him).

And surely We shall make them taste of the smaller torment prior to the greater torment, that haply they may yet return.

We shall surely make them taste the nearer punishment prior to the greater punishment, so that they may come back.

However (before that supreme punishment) We will most certainly make them taste the lower kinds of punishment (in the world), so that they may (repent their ways) and return.
